Sustainable Lash Extension Benefits
Before we discuss the benefits of sustainable lash extensions, let's first discuss why we knew our clients needed an alternative. The environmental impact of single-use plastics, particularly those made from non-biodegradable materials like polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), cannot be overstated. The improper disposal of microplastics poses a grave threat to our ecosystems, contaminating waterways and the food chain.
For Kari Tribble, founder of Avari Beauty, this issue became personal when she realized the impact of traditional PBT lash extensions. Kari grew concerned about their contribution to environmental pollution as she pondered the fate of the many lashes she used in her salon. Her subsequent research revealed that PBT lashes are frequently disposed of in ways that lead to their accumulation in water, soil, and landfills. Notably, PBT microplastics often end up in aquatic wildlife, posing a risk to the entire food chain, including humans. How To Care For Sustainable Lash Extensions
Never had sustainable lash extensions before? Don't worry! Taking care of your sustainable lashes is a breeze! Just treat them like you would any traditional lash extensions. To ensure your eco-friendly lashes last as long as possible, here are some tips to follow:
- Avoid using oil-based products near your lashes as they can weaken the bond between the extensions and your natural lashes, causing them to fall off prematurely. Check the ingredient list of any beauty products you use near your eyes to ensure they are oil-free.
- Cleanse your lashes twice daily to keep them free of oil, dirt, and cosmetics. This helps to prevent weakening of the extension glue bonds and the risk of premature lash fallout. - Brush your lashes regularly using a mascara wand, especially after washing them, to keep them debris-free and in place.
