What Are Volume Eyelash Extensions?
Volume eyelash extensions are THE most popular eyelash extension service that everyone is raving about. However, for some, volume is curious and they don't know what it means or what the difference is between a classic and a volume set.
Let me clear that up for you!
Classic eyelash extensions are formed when one eyelash extension is glued to one natural eyelash. The eyelash extensions used for this type of set are thicker in width to create more of a volumized, yet very natural look. It's a good idea for someone who has never had eyelash extensions before try a classic set so they become used to the change eyelash extensions will give.
Volume eyelash extensions are made by combining multiple single eyelash extensions into a shape resembling a fan. Once formed, they are placed on a single natural eyelash. Because they are meant to be combined with other eyelash extensions, the extensions we use are cut very, very fine and have a thinner width than a classic eyelash extension. This ensures the health of the natural eyelash so it does not cause damage. Fans are often made with 2, 3, 4, 5, + 20 eyelash extensions! The more eyelash extensions added to a fan, the wider it becomes. You may also hear volume described such as 2D, 3D, 4D...what this means is 2D = 2 extensions to a fan, 3D = 3 extensions to a fan, and so forth. The mega volume consists of fans that have 10+ eyelash extensions and are very, very wide providing the most volume that can be obtained from eyelash extensions.
Many people are choosing volume eyelash extensions because it gives a thickening effect to the eyelashes and they tend to last longer in-between fills than a regular classic does. When the volume lashes start to shed, some people prefer how it looks to a classic shed. Volume creates more of a filled look during the shedding process and tends to be less noticeable as they fall out. People also love them for the customizable volume level that can be created with the fans. The wider the fan, the more volume, and drama we can create! Volume lashes do come with a higher price tag! As more product, time, and skill is needed to perform them (oftentimes, fans are created one by one during the service)! However, people don't care at all. They love the look, feel, and confidence volume brings them. Here is a visual example of the difference between a classic, blended/hybrid, and volume set:
